Wind turbine dedicated at Regional Agriculture office
The PA Department of Agriculture held a dedication of its Skystream Wind Turbine on Nov. 20.
Regional Director Ron Williams cut the green ribbon for the Wind Turbine installed on the Regional Office front lawn, bordering Rt. 92 South in Tunkhannock.
Trehab Energy Home Corporation, a division of Trehab installed the Wind Turbine, a part of a project to promote residential Wind Power. Williams explained that this is an effort to promote wind as a viable energy alterative in our area. It must be noted that proper citing is important and wind activities vary with the seasons.

Villagers say proposal could ease runaway energy bills.
In the coastal tundra village of Kongiganak, some residents are keeping their lights on this winter by promising to sign over future tax refunds.
But the persistent Bering Sea winds that drive up the cost of light and heat in impoverished Western Alaska are now bringing a promise of redemption as well.
Last week the state proposed spending $14 million to erect wind farms in six villages on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, including Kongiganak.

Alaska wind farms key to reduced energy costs

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Cold wintertime winds in Alaskas villages typically mean higher energy costs to stay warm.
In time, those winds could help push down prices, but thats if a planned wind farm development comes to fruition.
The state proposed spending $14 million on wind farms to power six villages on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. This is part of a $100 million statewide effort to produce renewable energy around the state.
